Part of the Bitcoin Podcast Network, we have a new show where we interview Nick Johnson of the Ethereum Foundation. He talks about the Ethereum Name Service (ENS). ENS is bringing human-understandable naming to address resources both on-chain and off-chain. Nick is incorporating a new non-profit organization to support the efforts to build out a decentralized system for creating and managing these names. In addition, we pull from his expertise as go-ethereum engineer to get his take on dapp usability, solidity language quirks, blockchain scaling, and our blockchain-driven future.

Althea is a system that lets routers pay each other for bandwidth. This allows people to set up decentralized ISPs in their communities. In an Althea network, instead of one ISP at the top collecting monthly payments, many different people can earn money by expanding and strengthening the network.

Akash is a cloud for serverless computing. Using the incentivization schemes enabled by the Cosmos Network, Akash empowers architects and builders of the internet with the ability to utilize un-utilized computing resources. Conversely, those with excess computing power can open their systems for auction, enabling them to recuperate value from those resources. Corey and I have the pleasure of speaking with CEO Greg Osuri about their engineering effort and how they built this service.
